The Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation is proud to celebrate a new partnership with Molina Healthcare of Michigan (“Molina”), in collaboration with the MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), whose recent $60,000 investment will help strengthen the District’s growing network of Health Hubs.
This investment will support services delivered through DPSCD Health Hubs located at high schools across the city. These hubs are part of the District’s innovative approach to supporting students and families by connecting them with essential resources where they already are: at school. Through this grant, the District will continue to help more than 4,500 families access services that improve student wellness and strengthen academic success.
Meeting Families Where They Are
DPSCD’s Health Hubs represent a forward-thinking model developed by the District to better support students and families navigating everyday challenges. By embedding services directly inside schools, the District ensures that students have easier access to the care and resources they need to stay engaged in learning.
Today, 10 Health Hubs operate across DPSCD high schools, each designed to respond to the unique needs of its surrounding neighborhood. Services offered through the hubs include:
- Behavioral health support
- After-school enrichment opportunities
- Food pantries and basic needs assistance
- Dental and vision services
- Connections to community resources
This school-based approach removes many of the barriers that families face when trying to access support services outside of school. It also reflects the District’s commitment to caring for the whole student and strengthening the stability families need for children to thrive.
The DPSCD Foundation works alongside the District to help sustain and expand this model by mobilizing philanthropic and corporate partnerships that support the Health Hubs and the students they serve.

The Power of Partnership
The continued growth of Health Hubs is made possible through collaboration between the District, the Foundation, and partners committed to improving outcomes for Detroit students and families.
“The DPSCD Foundation exists to ensure students have what they need to thrive, and our Health Hubs are a powerful extension of that mission,” said Kerrie Mitchell Campbell-Mabins, President and CEO of the Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation. “They deliver real, daily support to families navigating challenges that can interfere with learning. Molina Healthcare of Michigan and MolinaCares’ partnership amplifies this work and reinforces the strength of our collective efforts. Together, we are creating stronger pathways for students and building a more supportive school community across Detroit.”
Leaders from Molina Healthcare of Michigan emphasized that their investment reflects a long-term commitment to improving the wellbeing of Detroit communities.
“Molina Healthcare of Michigan and MolinaCares are proud to support these hubs designed to strengthen family stability and improve student academic success through a whole-person approach to wellness,” said Terrisca Des Jardins, Plan President of Molina Healthcare of Michigan. “This is not only a commitment to address the immediate needs of Detroit families, but also an investment in the future of the community by supporting sustainable solutions with generational impact.”

Driving Impact for Students
With the support of partners like Molina, the District and Foundation are working toward ambitious goals for the 2025–26 school year, including providing:
- 1,000 physical health exams for students
- 1,500 vision screenings
- 500 dental screenings and behavioral health visits for students and their families
These services help ensure students have the support they need to stay in school, remain engaged in learning, and build healthier futures.
A Shared Commitment to Detroit’s Future
Health Hubs demonstrate what is possible when school systems, community organizations, and corporate partners come together around a shared purpose. The District’s leadership in developing this model, combined with the Foundation’s ability to mobilize resources, is helping bring essential services directly to students and families.
Through this investment, Molina Healthcare of Michigan and MolinaCares are helping strengthen the network of supports available to thousands of Detroit families while advancing a model that is already making a meaningful difference in schools across the city.
