While working at NBD full-time, Eva enrolled as a part-time student at Wayne State University, earning a B.A. degree in Sociology and Master of Education degree. She was a Fellow in the Michigan State University Political Leadership Program in 1996 and attended the Community Leadership Program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in 2008.

Eva has devoted much of her working life to serving public interest organizations. She is currently the President and CEO of SER Metro, a multi-state skills training organization, which recently received a “Champion of Change” award at the White House. In January 2014 Eva was  appointed to the board of the Detroit Public Lighting Authority, which is overseeing the challenging task of upgrading the city’s street lighting system.

The Detroit Public Schools Foundation acknowledges Eva DeWaelsche as an inspiring example of what DPS graduates can achieve with hard work and dedication. The sky is the limit!
