Walk For DPS – Make A Difference Day

Each year a day in October is designated Make a Difference Day. This day calls attention to the needs in our communities, and challenges everyone to come together to improve the lives of friends, neighbors, family, and even those we do not know. This year October 25 is that day. If 10% of those reading this newsletter volunteered on the 25th, we truly could make adifference.

The Detroit Public Schools Foundation is calling all alumni, friends, neighbors, and caring members of the community to Walk for DPS. On October 25 multiple sports teams at our high schools will be leading walks around their buildings to raise awareness of their programs, to foster health and wellness in the community, to demonstrate leadership, and to help raise money for their schools. Watch for specific information on how you might join the walk, and support those that do.

If you are unable to walk on October 25, you might help in other ways. You can

  • Clean up a vacant lot near a school
  • Take a student to a museum
  • Donate art and school supplies
  • Donate to the DPS Foundation

No matter how you participate, you can Make a Difference.
