High School Redesign
HIGH SCHOOL REDESIGN
The DPSCD Foundation’s mission is to remove barriers and create opportunities that help students rise. In partnership with DPSCD, we are proud to support the District’s Blueprint 2027 and its High School Redesign Plan, which reimagines the high school experience to better prepare students for success in college, careers, and beyond. This transformative initiative directly aligns with our commitment to ensuring that every student, regardless of their background, has access to the resources and experiences needed to achieve their full potential. By investing in programs that provide early college access and real-world career experiences, we are helping to build a future where students are not only academically prepared but also socially and professionally ready to thrive in the modern world.
The High School Redesign focuses on two key components that the Foundation supports: Dual Enrollment and Work-Based Learning (WBL). Through dual enrollment, students have the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school, giving them a significant head start on their academic journey. By partnering with local universities, such as Wayne State, Lawrence Technological University, University of Michigan-Dearborn, University of Detroit Mercy, and Wayne County Community College District, the Foundation helps expand access to these vital programs.
Why Your Support Matters
During the 2023-24 school year, more than 2,100 students enrolled in 2,862 college courses, reducing the cost of college while preparing students for the academic demands of higher education. Dual enrollment helps students shorten the time needed to complete a degree, easing the financial burden and increasing their chances of college completion. By investing in dual enrollment, you are helping to ensure that more students from underserved communities have access to higher education, empowering them to pursue their dreams with confidence.
