Glenda D. Price to Retire

Glenda Price, who has served as president of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation since 2012, will retire March 25.

Price, who serves on the boards of many local organizations, previously was president of Marygrove College and interim president of the Michigan Colleges Foundation.

Pamela Moore, who has served as president and CEO of the Detroit Employment Solutions Corp. for the past four years, will succeed Price as president of the foundation, effective March 28.

Moore, who served as director of the Detroit Workforce Development Department for nearly two years prior to heading up DESC, was instrumental in transitioning the city department to the nonprofit.

Over its first three years as a nonprofit, job placements of Detroit adults through the agency have increased nearly 400 percent, and costs, processing times and overheads have all been reduced, the nonprofit said in a release.

Before leading workforce development efforts for the city, Moore held a number of roles with the city, including serving as executive assistant to the mayor in 2009-10 and 2003-08 and as director of the Next Detroit Neighborhoods Initiative.

DESC has named COO Jose Reyes as interim CEO while it conducts a national search for someone to fill the position permanently.
