As a proud graduate of Detroit Public Schools, I know firsthand the power of a strong public education. Serving as Board Chair of the DPSCD Foundation is both a personal commitment and a professional calling to help create the conditions for students in our city to thrive. I believe deeply in the promise of public education—especially when it’s resourced and supported in a way that honors the brilliance of every child. The Foundation plays a vital role in expanding opportunity, removing barriers, and helping students rise beyond the circumstances they were born into. I serve to ensure that Detroit’s children not only have access, but a real chance to succeed, lead, and shape the future of this city.

We know the average student at DPSCD is facing more challenges. I say that because of the concentration of poverty in the city. The district and the foundation are directly aligned and they are driving what we identify as the priorities and the gaps.
