CBS Detroit: Empowering Detroit Students: $500K Manufacturing Futures Program

ABC 12 reported on the launch of the Manufacturing Futures program, a $500,000 initiative from the American Federation of Teachers, General Motors, and local school leaders that will bring 3D printers, robotic arms, and high school mentorship to Detroit and Dearborn classrooms this fall.

CBS Detroit reported on the district’s new $500,000 manufacturing initiative, backed by General Motors and hosted at the Michael Berry Career Center, which will prepare nearly 3,000 middle school students for high-demand, high-paying jobs in manufacturing.

Local 4 looked at how GM’s Manufacturing Futures partnership with the American Federation of Teachers and local public schools is modernizing skilled trades training, introducing more than 2,800 middle school students a year to robotics, computer integration, and 3D printing.
