Enrichment Programs
Enhancing Learning. Expanding Opportunity. Helping Students Rise.
At the Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation, we believe students rise when they’re supported beyond the classroom. That’s why we invest in student enrichment programs that complement the academic experience and help Detroit students thrive.
These enrichment opportunities aren’t extras — they’re essential. They expose students to new ideas, build confidence, and offer real-world experiences that prepare them for success beyond DPSCD. From STEM to the arts, from emotional wellness to hands-on learning, DPSCD enrichment programs give students a competitive edge and help them stay engaged in their education.
Working closely with school and district leaders, the Foundation brings these programs to life by connecting donor support to student-centered needs. Every initiative is designed to enhance learning, support the whole child, and expand what’s possible.
What Enrichment Looks Like
Public school enrichment can take many forms, but it always starts with this question: what do students need to stay curious, motivated, and ready to learn?
Thanks to generous supporters, the DPSCD Foundation helps fund:
- Hands-on learning experiences like STEM kits and financial literacy tools that build critical thinking and life skills
- School wide engagement activities including field day events, literacy fairs, and social-emotional learning programs that build community and confidence
- Creative and cultural programming such as library renovations, music and theater access, and exposure to the arts
- Support systems for vulnerable students, including those in foster care or facing housing insecurity, to ensure all students have what they need to succeed
These programs supplement Detroit’s world-class curriculum and help students rise inside and outside the classroom.
