The Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of Gregory McPherson as its new Chief Development Officer.
McPherson brings a strong track record of driving strategic growth, securing transformational funding, and building high-impact partnerships across Detroit. Most recently serving in a leadership role at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, and previously holding key positions with the Urban League of Detroit & Southeastern Michigan and Matrix Human Services, he has consistently scaled resources and expanded opportunities for the communities he serves.
In this role, McPherson will lead the Foundation’s development strategy, advancing efforts to secure critical investments that directly support DPSCD students and strengthen pathways to long-term success.
“Stepping into this role, I have the option to like it, love it, or live it—and I choose to live it,” said McPherson. “This work requires full commitment to action and transformative change so that our students are future ready. I’m excited to join a team that is already setting the standard and helping position DPSCD as a district of choice.”
McPherson joins President and CEO Kerrie Mitchell Campbell-Mabins, with whom he has worked alongside for nearly a decade advancing initiatives that support Detroit students and families.
“Greg is a strategic leader who understands how to connect vision to execution,” said Campbell-Mabins. “We’ve worked together for years, and I’ve seen his ability to build meaningful partnerships and deliver results that move communities forward. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to grow our impact and expand what’s possible for our students.”
As the Foundation continues to scale its work, McPherson’s leadership will play a critical role in strengthening partnerships, increasing investment, and ensuring DPSCD students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
As we continue to expand our impact, we welcome new and existing partners to engage with Gregory McPherson and explore how we can work together to support DPSCD students. Connect with Greg at [email protected]
