DPSF celebrates Juneteenth!

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of African-Americans who had been enslaved in the United States. Originating in Galveston, Texas, it is now celebrated annually on June 19 throughout the United States. Spend Juneteenth learning about four Distinct examination high schools in the Detroit Public Schools Community District! You’ll have the ability to tour the buildings, learn about the schools’ phenomenal programming, receive application support and celebrate the Juneteenth holiday with music, food, prizes and fun!

Participating schools are Communications & Media Arts High School and the School at Marygrove on the Westside, and Southeastern High School and Martin Luther King High School on the Eastside. Park at any of the schools and hop on a shuttle to explore the others between 12pm-3pm on June 19th. Shuttles will run between locations every 30 minutes and the last shuttle leaves at 2:30.

To apply to an exam high school, visit detroitk12.org/examschools and apply before the June 25 deadline!
