General Motors has partnered with local school districts and organizations to launch Manufacturing Futures, a $500,000 initiative aimed at preparing 2,800 middle school students in Detroit and Dearborn for high-demand, high-wage careers in manufacturing.
Through this program, classrooms will be equipped with cutting-edge technology—such as 3D printers and robotic arms—to give students hands-on experience and build recession-proof skills for an evolving economy. The initiative works to bridge the opportunity gap and connect middle schoolers directly to high school career and technical programs.
