CBS Detroit: Detroit Public Schools Community District & GM Launch $500K Manufacturing Program

ABC 12 reported on the launch of the Manufacturing Futures program, a $500,000 initiative from the American Federation of Teachers, General Motors, and local school leaders that will bring 3D printers, robotic arms, and high school mentorship to Detroit and Dearborn classrooms this fall.

CBS Detroit covered the Manufacturing Futures Initiative, highlighting how new GM and AFT foundation support is equipping eight middle school classrooms with 3D printers and robotic technology to give nearly 3,000 students hands-on training for high-paying careers.

Local 4 looked at how GM’s Manufacturing Futures partnership with the American Federation of Teachers and local public schools is modernizing skilled trades training, introducing more than 2,800 middle school students a year to robotics, computer integration, and 3D printing.
